As was tradition, Watts and Steven had arrived at their hotel room yesterday and indulged in the strawberries and champagne that Watts had arranged to be there. Earlier today there had been snowshoeing and skating, and now they were changing out of outdoor clothes and in to something more appropriate for dinner, even if that dinner was just in their hotel room (also tradition).

"The clouds look like they've cleared some," Watts noted, peering out the window. "Perhaps we will get to see the Northern Lights after all."

Henry's Bohemia, Sunday Fandom Time

Days passed in Rattay with the sluggish determination of an ox. Henry’s next target was Timmy, the soft-hearted muscle of the group. Timmy had worked at a mill between Talmberg and Ledetchko, Reeky had told him.

So after a full day’s rest - he’d escaped that fight with Runt’s men with his life, but not entirely uninjured - he saddled Pebbles again and rode her along the long, winding paths in the quiet in-between.

The grass and the trees were starting to blend into the background again, he noticed, somewhere in the back of his mind. He wasn’t sure if he felt sad about it, but he tried to force himself to pay attention. There was no knowing if Fandom would take him again, and if so, for how long, after all.

The mill sat on a quiet hill... )

The Cape Rouge had sat in Fandom's harbor for a long while now. Duke had been kidnapped from or with his boat by Haven too many times, and so taking her out had often felt dangerous. But those times were over, now. And so on Christmas Day, they finally faced the risk dead in the eye and took the ship out onto open sea.

Lucifer had made sure their fridge, freezer and hold was stuffed to the gills with food and drinks. They wouldn't have to come to shore for at least a week. The ship itself had gained more than its fair share of fairy lights, carpets and comforts, too.

This was going to be a romantic getaway without calamities. The multiverse owed them all that much.

The last few days in Ledetchko had been eventful, to say the least. The ride there had been both shorter and longer than Henry remembered; there was something about the familiar curve of grassy hills, the small paths without concrete or stone, the quiet among the trees– he’d rarely paid this much attention to it before.

But with so much time spent among the strange, man-made places of Fandom and its future, it was a welcome sight. A way to set his mind back to rights. He could now say he enjoyed the adventure of it all, but Rattay and its nearby villages was home, a soothing balm to his soul.

That feeling had stuck with him all the way to Ledetchko, and then it had fled him the second he saw smoke pouring upwards from behind the hill. Not a fire, no, just chimneys. But he had a job to do. He wasn’t just here to admire the scenery.

It was a good thing he had his journal on him... )

The air still smelled faintly of cinnamon (the only reason she'd known it had been a Fandom thing was because Ignis had finished his holiday baking already), the snow was a fluffy white blanket on the ground and the trees, and Liliana sipped her coffee, just admiring the outside. She was a cosmopolitan girl at heart, she loved the pulse and rhythm and excitement of cities...but there was something about a snow-covered forest that just tugged at her heart.

(She knew exactly what it was, the Caligo had left an indelible mark on her heart the same way her family had, but, shh, we didn't speak of such things if we could help it.)

In a little bit, she'd have to get up and get ready for the arrival of the handwavily invited guests coming over for Christmas dinner, but for right now, she was going to enjoy the small pleasures of a delicious cup of coffee, a room that smelled of pine, the warmth of Ignis and ignis both, and the sight of a veritable winter wonderland outside her window.

[Enh, up early for the holiday. If folks are around and feel like playing, feel free to drop 'em in!]

Illyana had...been going to classes. Even after everything. She had made it a few weeks into the semester, had started eating again besides just the bare necessities when her body forced her, started coming out of her room, instead of staring at the wall for hours on end, in a mechanical sort of way. As if she intellectually knew what she had to do to keep people from causing a fuss, but there had been no heart in it.

And then she had felt the shield around the Dallas of Earth-18133 shatter, as every alarm spell she had cast on the place went off at once. )

Quietly, as the snow fell, the sign on the outside of her door quietly shimmered, changing over from 'The Sorceress is: OUT" to "The Sorceress is: IN."

“Shop talk later!” Sharkie announced. “It's tea-time! Spill, Mr. Ambassador!”

So much of the rest of the gathering was spent by Greg telling them about the quirks of Fandom he'd experienced, and researched so far, Steven, and Marc, lamenting with Sharkie that he hadn't been able to keep the tiny horse, and showing them a video of the zombie band in Caritas.

“Hey are Loki and Jesus up to their usual holiday antics?”

[Content Warning: discussion of torture, and serial killers. Gregorith is visiting home for a few days, but will be back on Saturday. That he has gone home for a bit is okay for broadcast.]

It was funny how quickly you could get used to something. Like… going for a stroll with your horse on the island, only to find yourself staring up at the high towers of Pirkstein Castle with your feet in the mud and the chattering of a familiar bathmaid nearby.

The sun on his face, as if winter had never come.

“Well, Pebbles,” Henry said, as he turned to his horse. I suppose that's just the way of break weeks for us, then. )

It was the second-to-last Sunday of the year, and likely the last Sunday night date night of the year. Maybe that could've called for something special, in a fancy kind of way, but Octavia had felt like it called for something comfortable. Soft clothes and easy food. The island appeared the agree with the former, what with the freely provided snuggies - not that Octavia was currently wearing hers, but she was definitely going to keep it, likely much to the delight of her partners.

As for the food, she'd ordered in from a Greek restaurant and bakery on the mainland. It was a little heavy on the pita and the dips and spreads, and also various little pastries that were more on the dessert side of things - but what was more comfortable than finger food? Especially when you had a good coffee table to spread it all out on while lounging on the couch.

Well, lounging mostly on the couch, slightly on Lucifer's lap. As you do. "I'm not getting in your way, right?" Octavia rasped, as she leaned lazily (by Octavia standards) towards the table to pick up another bit of pita.

Reds and blues and yellows drifted across the cab windows, filtering in and out of Jack’s vision like splotches of paint on an empty canvas. It had been weeks since the show, longer still since he and Dane had figured out their poodoo in this latest round of jam-your-trauma-edges together.

And life, well, life had a way of fading in and out of focus. One minute everything was acute, a crisis. Then, for days, it blended together in a soup of gigs, odd jobs, recording studios, prep for community Christmas parties and Sunday morning coffees on a ratty sofa and light-hearted arguments about whether to cut vegetables.

Then, before you knew it, you were here: in the back of a cab, speeding back to your crappy apartment in the middle of the night, your partner sprawled in the back seat with you with his eyes set hazily on the pavement and your eardrums muffled by the loud bass of a party you'd already left.

“I don’t know why I’m so exhausted,” Jack said, watching red drift into blue; the back of his head tickled with the sensation of a thousand lives whizzing past, hidden behind old brownstones. New York’s blood pressure was up, he thought distantly. A moment in liminal space. )

The Supper Club would be doing something a bit different this week: visiting a local Christmas market! Lydia thought it sounded quite fun, with all sorts of interesting shopping and delicious treats. She hoped everyone would enjoy it, and weren't too stuffed from the island's latkes.

Welcome to Supper Club, everyone!
