This was the second bit of Baba Yaga-level shit Yelena had dealt with today—though this one was way more dramatic. The whole ordeal had left her on edge, and when Adrian finally clapped his hands, she realized she’d been holding her breath the entire time.

Now breathing easier, Yelena looked around and realized Adrian lying on the ground, panting and with a goofy expression his face.

"You need a cigarette or something?" she asked, her voice laced with her usual dry humor.
